  I read the book on which this film is based. Zadie Smith captures perfectly the apocalyptic tone of Witnesses (which certainly must have been more blatant then than it is now), although she mucks up a lot of details (Witnesses don't wear crosses or kneel in pews). I told her this when I saw her at a book signing -- she was pretty nice about it. I guess her editors, one of whom had been a Witness, didn't serve her very well.
