I wonder why so many kings are needed for the millennial reign? The almighty governing body says 24,000,000,000 people combined from those resurrected and the survivors of the big 'A' could make it into paradise. That gives you 1 king for every 166,665 persons.

Imagine being a perfect spirit king, who probably never sleeps has perfect memory, wisdom, judgement, knowledge. Imagine him ruling with Jehovah's power and authority over near perfect humans in a perfect world with perfect laws. Imagine his kingdom and subject's being the size of Huntsville Alabama.

    I want that job! LOL

Matthew 28:18 - "Jesus approached and spoke to them, saying: “All authority has been given me in heaven and on the earth."

1 Corinthians 15:27 - "For God “subjected all things [everything created] under his feet.”

(Psalm 8:6) You gave him dominion over the works of your hands; You have put everything under his feet:

(Ephesians 1:22) He also subjected all things under his feet and made him head over all things with regard to the congregation,

Bottom line: (according to JW Borg dogma) Jehovah ruled over all of creation as King without assistance, but when all power & authority is given to Christ, he needs help - from 144,000 Melchizedek wannabes!

I don't remember Paul describing anyone else as being in the likeness of Melchizedek. Maybe I missed that!

n 1926, Rutherford reinterpreted the Faithful Slave from a single person to a group of people. Thus the interpretation had come full circle, but this time the servant included Jesus as well as the 144,000. (reporting not supporting)

"Seeing then that The Servant of Jehovah is The Christ, and that The Christ is composed of Jesus and the faithful members of his body, we find it proper to apply the term "Servant" to Jesus Christ alone or to Jesus Christ and the members of his body collectively as one; and sometimes it is applied only to the members of the body of Christ yet on earth." If there are 24 billion people to be resurrected and there are 365,000 days in 1000 year reign, that means that 65,753 people will be resurrected each day. Jesus spreads the work and delegates that to the 144,000 to assist.

And Blonde, why does it matter what Rutherford taught?

I like to not look at who taught want and stick to the realities.

Rattigan350, It doesn't matter to you obviously. But then we are all individuals. My grandparents were Bible Students then (later jws in 1931) and saw the changes and left. It is not remembered much by jws today, but Rutherford's thinking like that moved them to leave the WTS. That is a reality. It shows that the WTS has been changing it's beliefs from the very beginning of that organization. I am merely reporting not supporting the WTS teachings. I see similarities today.

I'm with Blondie on this one. Understanding the WT beliefs means knowing the history of the beliefs, how they have evolved, and what influenced those evolutionary changes. Just looking at the current teachings and how they don't make sense is missing the overall understanding that comes with knowing the history.

Even if Rutherford would be disfellowshipped were he to be resurrected today, he's still foundational. The JW "church" is built upon the Rutherfordian rock.

My thought is that they will eventually try to make the 144,000* "go away" and that only the GB and those closest to them will be considered to be annointed and the FDS. And the Memorial will be further bastardised to the point that it will be a live broadcast to the world's Kingdom Halls of the GB partaking, to the exclusion of all others.

Not a prediction, just a thought. They've uncoupled the 144,000 and the FDS. The above scenario might make a logical follow through.

Where does the 24B come from? If nobody dies anymore, then over the first 1000 years alone we have so many people, you’d need to cover the entire surface of land with buildings stacking 100 stories high just to give them enough room to stand. If you didn’t do that, we’d each have space less than a skin cell to live on.
