its the begining of the end for the JWs in place of the 200 and 300 page books that they have on the trolleys they had some of the old editions of the watchtower and awake so they have gone from 300 page books to 16 page tracts.why havent they replaced the books with new ones it couldnt be that they are short of money LOL -

The trolleys haven't been around that long, did they have the larger books on them in the beginning?
If so, it could be that they found that people aren't as likely to take a book in passing but might be inclined to grab a brochure....not as much of a commitment. Also the brochures are lighter for the person wielding the cart around and they are more to the point and specific and people may be more inclined to read them at a glance rather than put them aside as one might do with a book. They could be saving the books for later if and when they are truly interested.

Pete is right, but the overwhelming fact is that everything the WT is putting out lately is to DISCOURAGE the dissemination of their literature. It isn't making them money, anyway. They are going online and the carts are really just about putting the "JW.ORG" out there-branding. -

The correct and honest answer to this posing question is the WTS has run out of bullshit to sell to the public.
They've got millions in the bank to support themselves on so why not curtail the literature and use whats already been published to keep the followers in tact.
The WTS has been reducing its publications not only for the costs involved but also the WTS has pretty much bullshited themselves into a corner, with its long list of end of times date propagations.

The printing era of the WBTS is nearing it's end. It's all about electronic and broadcasts from now on. That's why all the layoffs and selling-off of properties. -

Seems that way to me as well but I'm puzzled as to why, if this is so, they need that huge new complex in New York with all it's residence quarters. Why do they still need so many people there ??
Even when I was a Bethelite decades ago, it seemed like most of the people who were at Bethel, were there to support the staff at Bethel and to maintain the buildings they need for them to live in. It's as if they've created a way for others to support them in their fantasy world rather than have to go out and take care of themselves.

Acording to sam hurd of the GB they have and are going to make cuts of many 1000s of people who used to work at bethels around the world. So a lot of people they could do with out cleaners cooks laundry people will be going but any company needs people to look after the money and the legal side of things and the writing department etc -

Really hard to argue with. :smirk:

Maybe once they've downsized the R&F enough, they plan to have all remaining JWs move there.
That would give them more direct control over the flock.
And the name "Watchtowistan" would have relevence like never before. :smirk:
