The following appeared on jw news section earlier on in January:
On December 15, 2023, an ongoing conflict between two armed factions in Sudan’s capital, Khartoum, spread to the country’s second-largest city, Wad Madani. As previously reported on jw.org, when the conflict began in Khartoum in April 2023, many brothers and sisters fled to safety in Wad Madani, located approximately 170 kilometers (106 mi) southeast of the capital. Now, over 150 of these brothers and sisters have once again been forced to flee from the violence.
Effect on Our Brothers and Sisters
None of our brothers or sisters have been injured or killed
At least 158 brothers and sisters have been displaced. Some have fled safely to nearby cities or countries
10 brothers and sisters and a few non-Witness relatives remain in Wad Madani
Relief Efforts
Circuit overseers and local elders are providing spiritual support to those affected (= whatever that means)
Disaster Relief Committees in Sudan and neighboring countries continue to coordinate relief efforts and provide practical assistance, including food, medicine, and shelter(=basically the Watchtower is receiving free money from governmental agencies and the UN and then uses a fraction of this money to help local jws and then demand respect and appreciation)
Notably, just a week before the fighting began in Wad Madani, the East Africa branch arranged for those who had been displaced to view an Arabic-language recording of the 2023 “Exercise Patience”! Regional Convention program. (=because that's what people who face displacement need, to watch a video of a Watchtower assembly program)
Among the nearly 200 in attendance were 145 brothers and sisters who had fled from the violence in Khartoum. Many at the convention expressed appreciation for the timely spiritual food they received. In particular, those in attendance were encouraged by the feature Bible drama “Commit Your Way to Jehovah,” which highlights a situation similar to their own. In addition, seven were baptized during the convention. (= the drama portrays a family and close friends escaping displacement to a UNCHR camp for safety , the UN refugee camp is portrayed as a provision from Jehovah...yes you can't make this stuff up)
Reality Check
Far from being a provision from Jehovah which by itself as a statement is a blasphemy to yester years jw theology where the United Nations are portrayed as the "beast" of Revelation, the reality is that these refugee camps are far from safe. Refugee camps are known to be attacked by militia and are not the safe havens the Watchtower would like to portray them to be. As recently as 2021 Amnesty International was reporting the attacks on such camps is Sudan
The cycle of deadly violence in Darfur is still ongoing. It returned on 16 January 2021 with the horrific attacks on the Krinding camps in El Geneina, the capital of West Darfur State, in which more than 160 people – most of them ethnic Massalit – were killed.
Just leave them alone
Instead of playing God with other people's lives in a continent that most GB members have never visited why don't you just let the people decide what is best for them. They know far better their local circumstances and they can make a far more informed decision based on them. The truth is that many Sudanese have escaped to sorrounding countries instead of relying on local refugee camps.
The cruel reality
The reality is that the Watchtower is not really interested in the lives of their faithful and at best this is a secondary consideration. The Watchtower is more interested in their access to million of dollars of support by such organisations like the United Nations and that is why they are more than happy to promote a UN policy as a drama at a district assembly.
This is one of the biggest scandals in recent years and I wish that more jws and exjws alike could see the Warchtower has been reduced from a foe to a mouthpiece for the United Nations.
