Laziness of JW parents?

It seems that many Witness parents are simply taking the lazy option when it comes to raising their children.

By this I mean, they will happily outsource the education of their kids to the ready-made information on JWdotORG.

Need to keep the toddler busy? Just stick him in front of a colourful Caleb and Sophia cartoon. Or lets play coloring-in on ready made pictures of bible characters getting killed.

Need to manipulate the mind of your growing child? Find a video on the site that handles that very topic, and rather than being an involved parent, just let the manipulative propaganda do the job for you.

Have teenagers? Well, there is a section on the site full of leading manipulative content there too! Is your teenager asking questions about the origins of animal life, great! There are videos that promote creation rather than science. Is your teenager curious about love and attraction? Fine! Here are some ready made videos and worksheets!

The modern Witness parent is "so thankful to Jehovah" for these provisions...but surley, it simply makes it easier for them to avoid actually guiding their own children. Just outsource it to the Society and let them do it all for you.

    Rant over.

I recently checked out a kid vid there. Poor Caleb had a talk with all those hard biblical names in it. What was Dad's solution? Practice with Caleb on how to say them? NO He had a much better way. Talk about God's name and how it means He will help you with those difficult names.

So Dad didn't have to spend time with Caleb except to pray. Amazingly, Caleb could pronounce them all! Now Caleb knows that instead of bugging dad for help, he should just pray.

Yikes! It is true even down to manners about saying please and thank you, I think I saw.

I have never been a fan of the phoney and out of touch with reality videos. As a person who grew up as the strange kid at school I can attest to the fact that much of their videos are not realistic.

I think you have struck gold here stuckinarut2

    ,because what lazy is ,is what lazy does.{ Compliments of Forrest Gump }

From what I have learned here these past 10 years on this board parents of children nowadays do not have the same in depth knowledge of the Bible or even the reasons the JW religion has for believing/accepting this or that doctrine.

Not like the old days when JW`s could hold their own with a discussion on what they believed and why they believed it.

Those days have apparently gone ,why ? because Jehovahs Witnesses Adults have become lazy and just rely on what the GB say without seeking out why the GB say this or that ,they just blindly follow on.

So no wonder the children of these parents can no longer defend what they believe with scriptures .

The whole religion has been dumbed down to:

" You want to know what Jehovah`s Witnesses believe ? here you go log on to JW.Org and all your questions will be answered"

True enough, Smiddy; I wonder how many current JWs know what a concordance, or the Kingdom Interlinear Translation of the Greek Scriptures, are.

I'm a parent. And I'd be damned if I imitated the parents of Caleb and Sophia. I've often heard from the platform that the Become Jehovah's Friend series is not just for children, but a learning instrument for parents, too. The parent/child dynamic in those cartoons of instilling guilt and using fear tactics to curb a child's natural sense of imagination, curiosity (or sleep cycle) is deplorable. I'd sooner take parenting advice from the Octomom.

I remember that most of the lessons and teachings in life were relegated to the family study. For instance, if something came up during the week, my dad would take note of it and talk about it at the next family study. Result? After spending 45 minutes on WT material, we had little time left for the things that happened in the week.

Now that I am a father myself, I actually take the time to talk to my kids as things are occurring or brought to my attention. I find that I am able to pass on much more values and knowledge then finding a specific spot in the week for it.

    Hi All,

Me being a witness without drinking the kool-aide...what I've noticed about some...many of them don't want children. I even found out that some of the women didn't want children .....but they have them & serve Jehovah on a cold plate....They make good little witness kids, nice, polite, humble....but a social mess, unless they are around their own...I noticed that some of the friends have many kids...but that's before they came in the truth..most witness have 1, 2 or none....don't have time for a bunch of kids...got be ready for our mid week meeting and Sunday meeting and family study, field service, socializing with only witnesses, letter writing, parts on the theocratic school, trying to keep up with all the latest video's, literature, &&&& JW.TV....you a good witness if you can say that in a conversation....means you are keeping up....have I missed anything...

Parents may be lazy because they think that the friends are babysitters...and complain about having kids..how difficult it is....well they are not the only ones to have children but you know witnesses are, they are the only ones suffering...why should they pay rent, why should they have to take care of their children, why should they work, and so on...

Children are a big responsibility in or out of the truth...being a parent isn't easy...for nobody...in this fast pace world most parents are getting lazy...they are stressing out their kids, with all the activities they sign them up for, why ? Because they don't want to spend no time with them...entertain them...teachers complain how parents want them to raise their kids, the parents teach them nothing at home...let the teachers do it, so the kids don't learn nothing, because the teachers are teaching them stuff they should have learned at home...

So are JW's parents lazy..no more than most...they just want the fun in making them, but that's the extent of it..

The org. makes the parents so busy they can't pay attention to their kids...
