Met a JW at the Bus Stop Terminal

Some JW dude was passing out 1-2 year old magazines at the bus stop terminals, WT and Awake respectively.

I asked him a couple of questions about NGO and the Child Molestation problems (via notepad of course, made me almost miss my bus for not paying attention heheh) and he had not heard about the NGO situation but has heard about the CM cases and stated that the media is making up stories about how bad the situation the CM cases were with the WTS.

So he was curious about the NGO since he never heard of it and I explained to him what it was and who they affiliate with, I was met with alot of scepticism. I told him that he can contact the UN and get the address with NGO and he can write a request of a copy of a public record with the WTS affiliation with NGO since it is available upon request. I told him I do not know if they would charge for the information but he can ask nonetheless and find out for himself.

Then I mentioned about Silent Lambs (since the WTS failed to mention about the website obviously) and gave him the web address.

Anyway, he handed me a copy of the October 8, 2002 Awake magazine with the headline on the cover, "Single-Parent Families Can Succeed" which kinda made me sick knowing that families are being broken up by the WTS simply because someone disagrees with the teachings of the WTS .

It must have been a 'special day' , a combined effort to get rid of any old magazines that you may have laying around.

Good comments to bring up, but very soon the JW mindset will begin to take over.

You planted, Yizuman. But where is Appollos ?

Erm, it was supposed to go on from that bible verse, I don't know where it is.

'I planted, Appollos watered, but God kept making it grow'

The Witnesses always apply that for planting interest in someone, so you may have planted the first seeds of doubt in this JW. But it is true, his Watchtower developed mind will begin to take over, and he will cast aside all his doubts and just carry on. For a time.

Good work, thats what I was trying to say.

    Well, never hurts to try.

Me, I wouldn't have taken the mag from him and would explain that I knew enough about them already.

Hey you never know, you may have started something in that guy. All of us had something trigger us to doubt.

    Nope.

    You do??? (j/k)

I hope so. Never know...maybe in a few years he'll see something like most ex-JWs have. Yizuman

I'm sure that in that "single parent" article has examples of single parents who make it to meetings and virtuallly never miss. Oh, and they manage to have home bible studies too. Message being - hey, if single parents can manage to juggle all the balls, what's up with you lazy a** 'normal' familes?

I think that those who are prone to doubting will already be doing it on their own. There is enough that goes on in the organization for anyone already prone to it to suspect something is seriously wrong. Look at those who knew something was wrong with the "Life How Did it Get Here" book. Or those who doubted all along about 607, etc. I remember doubting about lots of things including, blood doctrine, FDS, spirit appointment etc etc. It was only a matter of time before I myself sought answers.

If someone is happy with it and is not a skeptic already, no matter how many "seeds" we plant, it will be a waste of time. This guy sounds like he already dismissed the information without even considering it. Doesn't sound too good to me.

Not that it wasn't worth a try. But I have learned my lesson and since I don't even enjoy talking to JWs (they give me a headache and a stomach ache) I would not have wasted my time.
