Same here in the U.K, every year we have the statistic that 200 or so people will die on our roads, simply because Summer Time has come to an end, yet our stupid M.P's vote against sensible Bills trying to save these lives.
There are only so many hours of daylight at any time in the year, surely in the 21st Century we can devise a way to use them intelligently.
