If any of you are/were JWs, then you know of the "donation arrangement", the semantical approach of the WTS to soliciting donations/funds.

I remember when this was initiated. Much talk was made about it. The "Kingdom Ministry" always mentioned it on the back page within the structure of the "suggested presentations". We as brothers were told continually to highlight this 'aspect of out Christian ministry' when handling Service Meeting parts.

I am sitting here going through the latest KM and going back through the months. I don't see any mention of it for months and months. We have not been instructed to highlight it. The "circuit overseer" does not even mention it any more and at the last few assemblies, there has not been spoken a word about "the donation arrangement".

Conspicuous by it's abscence, the "donation arrangement" seems to be dead.

PS None of the "publishers" that I have questioned even use it. They say they "don't like it". Nobody gets the $cash$ any more.[/I]

I think it is true that most fail to ask for a donation when they leave the magazines. It just never seemed to come out quite right.

I do think people prefer just paying a donation instead of set contribution rates. I believe the absence of the encouragement to donate reminders is mainly for PR purposes. But also that there is no longer any cash crunch and the publishers have been sufficiently indoctrinated.

    Interesting observation though. Thanks

but I 'll bet if you browse the announcements you'll see that all so called ~free~ literature must be ordered through the congregation, all renewal subs must be handled the same way.

THE PO is to make an announcement the FIRST service meeting each month to remind the R&F, the stock contributors.......SEE march 2000 KM under announcements...

having said that ...because I read it a few months back........does that not PUBLICLY put the pressure on the PO to do so since if he doesnt everyone wil know he failed his job.......

if it was just a gentle encouragement , it would have been a letter to the cong that NO ONE EVER HEARD ABOUT......

    what a coprporation!.......

I remember when they first started the new "donation arrangement".

Someone at the door donated like $20.00, and I went out and bought a new CD. (I was a teenager)

Truthfully though. was I the only one who ever did that?

donation arrangement? When coming into the borg I heard those rumors of them not being like Christendom, they wouldn't ask for money, I thought it funncy when at the Theo school they accounts were spoken of monthly and it always seemed that the congregation needed to donate more $Money$ so that accounts could be met. I also found it strange when the congregation was asked to pass a resolution to ldonate money to a hall project down the road even though being unable to meet monetary needs of the congregation. It seemed to me that, all they (the borg) wanted was to get more donations. my two bits. buff
