A friend of mine has been attending the "Comedy Trivia" night, every Tuesday night, at the local RSL Club for over six months now. His previous team were woefully bad, coming up with responses like "Denim" to the question "What synthetic fibre was invented by DuPont in the 1930s"? His old team disintegrated through a bunch of arguments and I set about getting together a team that might make the grade. After a totally suck-worthy performance the week before, last night we won! We answered cerebral questions such as "Who was Samntha's bumbling aunt in Bewitched?", "What four word sentence did the SoupNazi in Seinfeld use to refuse service?" and "Who was the propane salesman in King of the Hill?". The prize? A $60 voucher for use in the club's bottle (liquor) shop! We bought a couple of cases of beer and split them four ways. The founding member of the team, my mate, was over the moon; he had finally won! Everyone else was extremely happy for him, as he was one of the "stalwarts" of the event. As for me, I felt good that I'd finally been able to help him out in this small, but symbolically important, way. All in all, a good night!

Sounds like alot of fun . I don't think we have any places that do that kind of thing here in texas . A 60$ voucher for free booze is definately reason to celebrate .

You're not wrong, Heathen! The club used to run something similar some years ago; I usually was on a two or three member team which almost always came second, never first. Second prize back then was a $25 grog shop voucher - it'd usually stretch to a case of beer, which usually divided evenly among 2 or 3. I was never short of booze back then! It'd be nice if we can repeat the performance next week, but I've got a feeling the MC will go over our old answer sheets to find our weaknesses and then run next week's quiz accordingly; it's what I would do to try and balance things up.
I've heard that Texas is practically dry. You don't have clubs that run events like this to get people in to use club facilities? There must be some sort of trivia circuit happening out your way, Heathen - what about church groups and social organisations running such things as fund raisers?

Texas, Dry? What part? Lower bumfu%$?! East Baptist County, mebbe?
Anyway, if it's trivia you're looking for, try looking for places that have the NTN playmakers. I have one here in my town, and I usually get back late from lunch (I LOVE trivia!)

Texas, Dry? What part?
Now that you mention it, I can't find the reference. Maybe it was somewhere else I'd read about...
Just as well we didn't get that question at our trivia quiz!
We are going again next Tuesday night. We are betting that the questions are going to be a lot harder and that we'll probably suck again.

I think I remember now: it may have been alcoholic British chef, Keith Floyd on Floyd's American Pie. He was always knocking back the plonk, even during his cooking sketches - his robust drinking habits may have coloured his view on what constitutes "dry".

I run a trivia (Pub Quiz) night every Tuesday at my favourite Pub up the street from my place. That's right (putting on TV Announcer's Voice) "I am the Quizmaster!"
It is great fun. Cash prize of $25 to the winning team (each team can have up to 4 players) as well as a prize package from a Music Store chain. We also do a random draw for $25 as well as various door prizes thoughout the night.
I'll have to post some of the questions some time to see how you do.
Tuesday nights at the Pub. Sure beats how I use to spend my Tuesdays!!!! LOL

Tell you what, Stephanus, you pose some of the questions in your quiz and I'll do the same with our Monday night quiz in the pub.
Could be fun.
Like um, how far can the QE 2 sail on 1 gallon of fuel? Answer is 35 feet!

True some parts of Texas are dry but the majority is very much hell drinkers and beer raisers. I'm just angry that my favorite blues rock club shut down ,I thought it had some of the best music in town too .
