This journalist's love of the Watchtower sign in Brooklyn is a bit disturbing ... and weird. I assume he was not raised a Jehovah's Witness, as the sign evokes fond memories for him seeing the sign's night glow of red showing the time and temp. He takes pictures of the sign from multiple locations and angles as a "keepsake". I wonder if he is aware how many people would love to see it burst into flames. Forget hiring someone to take it down. Give me gasoline and a torch, and I'll do it for free. And have one kick-ass party while doing it.

    Nostalgia is the new tomorrow.

The article reads like an inoffensive puffpiece - a fond farewell to a sign that has dominated the Brooklyn skyline for decades.

I love the part about the signs 'warm, red glow'. Well, yes, that's what the colour red does at night....

It is a shame that untold hundreds of thousands of people around the globe don't have such warm and glowing memories of the word "Watchtower", quite apart from its muscle as a sign.

Speaking of signs, does anyone know when the other "iconic" sign, "Read God's Word the Bible Daily" was dethroned? It sat atop another large JW organization building in Brooklyn and could be seen from Manhattan and further afield. I estimate it's been gone for nearly 5 years - but can't be sure.

Why was the word "Watchtower" so prominent on the building anyway ? Wasn`t the Jehovahs Witnesses supposed to make the name "Jehovah" known in all the inhabited earth ?

However the Bible in the New Testament /Christian Greek Scriptures explicitly states that the name of Jesus is the name above every other name in heaven ,on earth, and under the ground.Phil.2:9-11 { including Jehovah`s name } during the Christian Era.

Isn`t red a symbol of fire ? ,so maybe that is prophetic of what will eventually happen to the WTB&TS .

On behalf of Brooklyn, here's a nice, warm, red glow for the WT headquarters:

He's just being a New Yorker... and weird.

The writer has no idea the pain and suffering that the sign represents.

Perhaps if he read some of early 20th century issues of the Brookyln Eagle...
