I was looking at my "copy" of the Pay attention to yourselves book and noticed the following:

Normally, a close relative would not be disfellowshipped
for associating with a disfellowshipped person unless there
is spiritual association or an effort made to justify or
    excuse the wrongful course.

Why does that book say that when they tell us in the mags and stuff not to have "any" association with them not even eating with them

AND an answer to this please...it my seem trivial to some but is something i think about:

Remember when those JW hostages were taken a couple of them were beheaded......and then there was an old story of a sister who was out witnessing and she called on the door of a rapist or killer but he didnt do anything to her because there was some "guy" standing next to her...well, i think of it this way.....Now jehovah obviously saved the sister at the door of that house from getting raped or killed by putting an angel there, then, how come he didnt save those that were beheaded?

Please give me some reasoning on this

If a relatve associates with a df'd person and steers clear from "apostate" issues, they won't DF you. You might be considered disloyal but you shouldn't get disfellowshipped.......Answer2-----Jehovah doesn't always see, in his wisdom, the need to intervene in such things all the time.

i know what you are saying....but while i was supposed to be going to the meetings, it was off and on, i was warned by a witness relative about hanging around my husband sister who was disfellowhipped and we just used to go around to visit and talk in general....how do the elders really know what we might have been talking about anyway....because they always tell everyone not to even eat with disfellowshipped ones

and the second answer you gave....well, does that mean he picks and chooses when and if he saves someone even though they are doing his work

The elders will tell you that you must be extremely careful not to do any unnecessary business with a DF'd one that's a relative.....Answer 2 ---yes, according to the WT. Jah knows what is best. Just leave it in God's hands. (And go out and preach).

why is the book different than the magazine.

look to see the year of publication in the book compared to recent wts. what i mean is.........

remember. The watchtower publication is the prime way of letting one know how to conduct themselves. so the current watchtower would explain the changes one would have to make as it comes from Jehovah releasing his new light on all matters.zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, snore snore zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

that was the response i had to give from the plateform, when people were addressing those types of questions to the society.

I believe the key to understanding the WTS policy on this is to understand what they mean by "close relative." This is probably someone living in the same household, where communication is unavoidable. It may also include someone in the immediate family whom you are likely to see at family gatherings, etc.

At least that's how I understand it.

The angel story is nothing but urban legend, passed around from JW to JW. Although I have heard it from the platform, maybe even at an assembly, it is not an official story from the WTBTS publications. The same story exists in different forms, but it's not a JW. Sometimes it might be a girl scout, sometimes a missionary. In one variation, it's a girl walking down an alley where a rapist was waiting, but he left her alone. In another, it's somebody about to mug a missionary. Here they are from snopes.com.

So, even as a JW, it's not an accepted belief that Jehovah would save his people from all harm.
