Leave it to me to be clearing out my old CD collection. Lo and behold, I find a CD from 1994: Elastica's CD (UK).

Man, I don't know what the hell they're up to, but man I loved this chick-lead band.

    Of course, their hit: Connection

....still makes my nipples hard when I hear it. That album was phenominal. I am listening to it this evening again, and loving it like it was the first time.

Gotta hand it to the Brits, a band like Elastica, when I hear them, I still want to a strip-tease to this music.

No worries folks, it ain't gonna happen. But they could inspire a 40 year old Canuck male to do it.

Anyone have any band that is not necessarily recent that kicks a$$ that they listen to?

I love my old Alice Cooper albums. I wasn't too old when they first came out, but a few years ago a sister decided her conscience couldn't let her keep them anymore, so I've been looking after them since then. I mustn't have been as good as she was...

    Boston of course.

Kansas. Their Leftoverture album was one of my favourites.

I absolutely loved Elastica's first album too. What a shame they fizzled away into the file named "where are they now?" . Thanks to Trigger Happy TV I guess Connection has become an internationally recognised track, but I guess few people know who the theme music's by.

The Beatles are timeless.....so I won't go down that avenue. A band that strikes me Violent Femmes. Alternative before Hootie made it Mainstream. The Clash who can argue with that one? and the Dead Milk Men. This list could get very very long indeed if you let me keep going.

Ah Gwdion! I love the Violent Femmes and Dead Milkmen. Just last weekend I was listening to "Death Rides a Pale Cow" a best of Dead Milkmen CD. The Femmes "Viva Wisconsin" is great too! All live performances of their best songs. Currently I can't seem to stop listening to Bjork's "Post" but I have been interchanging it a bit with Morcheeba's "Fragments of Freedom". I love the song "Be Yourself". I think my son is getting sick of it though...LOL! I guess listening to the same song 15 times in a row is a bit excessive..

"... make a cup of tea, put a record on ..."

Ah, glory days of student press, the great debate about whether Blur or Oasis were the best band (when, judged on the albums Different Class, Great Escape, and What's the Story... , Pulp were the best band, unless you counted Radiohead in, in which case Radiohead were). Justin(e)(sp?) from Elastica and Damon from Blur being an item... you could always listen to an album by Wire and see where the Elastica sound comes from, -ish...

    I love the Boomtown Rats...

Ah Elastica. I also liked Echobelly, Sleeper, Menswear, James, Mansun and a few others I can't think of now.

    Edited to add:

Doh how I could forget bands like The Stone Roses, Happy Mondays and the Inspiral Carpets.

    Ignored One.

    Hi Rayzor...

In 1996 I saw Elastica at a small venue that holds maybe 200 people supported by a band called the Delgados and it was immense. I was right up at the front, staring at Donna's legs which looked great in tan tights with a black figure hugging dress on purrrrrr. Sheila was their new bass player at the time. After the gig one of my mates got a towel that one of the girls used to wipe the sweat off her face. I ended up in a tug - of - war over another one & lost, but I did get a set - list from the stage which was quite cool. Later on we waited at the back & when they appeared we got the stuff we'd blagged signed, I got Donna & Sheila ( but saw Justine come out a few moments later & just watched her walk away - I still kick myself! ) to sign me set - list. Donna signed it on my back which I remember felt unusually pleasant, tho I wasn't aware at the time that she ( I think ) prefers girls to boys. I felt so embarrased coz I'd never done this before, waiting for autog's, but after it we all could've leapt all the way home. I think the car broke the speed limit all the way home with the excitement. Another one of my mates got kisses & stuff as well - wish I'd done that too. Oh well, too quiet for me own good sometimes. But a cool wee memory of a fun night out nonetheless.

    Take care...

    00 - Sole
