Douglas Adams, the creator of the marvellous Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, died on Friday of a heart attack, aged 49.

I not usually affected to much by the deaths of public figures, but this one brought a lump to my throat.

    A most sad day.

I can't think of anything fitting to say to commemorate him, so I'll just assume that he's still alive in some alternate dimension/time-line/sofa.

Alas, poor cousin Douglas, as my dad would say (being an Adams himself). It seems just yesterday, that Megan Vallas in sixth grade looked mortified that I hadn't read the Hitchhiker series yet and forced me to check them out from the library. The first book was the best. And the second book, that was the best too. The third book I enjoyed quite a lot...
