First of all I would like to thank everyone here who has been of help to me. Sharing you experiences has been a source of therapy for me. I have noticed that they are many active posters on this site who ae not df or da but are inactive in the org. They have been here for quite awhile and yet still go to the meetings at the hall. You show your distaste for the wts and the organization as a whole. If you no longer have love for the organization what is prompting you to get in your car and drive to a meeting or two a week? Isn't that leading a double life? When do you make that pivotal decision that you are leaving the org for good? Is it fear that is holding you back? I am so curious.
Are you Paralyzed with fear?

Hi Ikhandi,
When I decided to leave the JWs the internet was not a strong resource yet (c 1992). Once I got my family out, then fear or concern was gone. Though I tried to do it all quietly, I was still too vocal and became DA'd by 1995. I became involved on the internet a couple of years later.
That said, however, I can see myself on a site like JWD before I left the JWs. Curiosity and a need to explore, learn, and most of all interact with other ex-JWs would have been a great benefit. It would have been less scary for me. In my case I feared that there were few ex-JWs, and that I would have to build my entire post-JW life on friendship with people who never were JWs and would not really understand me.
As for leading a double life, I feel little concern. I led a double life for about 7 months (Nov 1991 through July 1992) as I helped my family to get out. The Internet may have very helpful in easing some of my raw fear as I moved forward. I would have not been alone, and may have gotten some good information to help me with my family.
Some ex-JWs who still go to meetings have large family ties, and/or they are involved in business relationships with active JWs. I can't blame them for leading a double life while they figure out how they are going to exit. But even if they do not exit, I still don't see a problem. Their presense among JWs will still have a moderating effect. That in itself is a benefit to active JWs and may in time, with more and more JWs leading a double life, force the WTS to start making some changes. - Jim W.

Amazing pretty much covered the reasons.
I also think that some who admit it is not the truth......but still attend anyways........are either not completelt sure, or the old programming overides reason for awhile.
If one of these types were offended, hurt, or victimized in a powerful way by the borg to a far enough degree.......I doubt they would EVER set foot in a Kingdom Hall.
