Could a Korean JW get a tattoo so that he would not be fit to join the military? I know you can't have a tattoo, but if it were to read Jehovah, and make you exempt from military service wouldn’t it be a good thing?
This is probably a stupid question, but why, exactly, can't dubs get tatoos??
Because that would put them in serious danger of being a part of this world. And besides, it's they use the same scripture to back up this doctrine as they do smoking... can't remember exactly where it is .... mentions something about keeping clear of defiling our flesh. Maybe Corinthians.
I think the tatoo thing is dumb. It's not defiling your flesh, it's beautifying it (at least sometimes). So, a dub women can't get permanent makeup? Waaaaay to many rules without a definitive scriptural basis.
Back to the topic, I think the WTS likes their members to publicly suffer in taking a stance for their faith (remember Malawi?), so they would not approve of taking this way out. Plus, if they forbid tatoos, then the brother would still be sinning.
Happyout ( holding her aching head trying to follow the WTS reasoning)
