Yep I bought the book Midnight Friday night started it Saturday and finished Thursday before midnight. I of course didn't read night and day, but I loved the book very well done and even 800 pages wasn't enough.Rowling is exquisite at making you love or hate characters.

Okay let's cut to the chase. I haven't read any of the books. I did see the first movie, out of curiousity and I felt very decadent in watching a "witch" movie. But I read that one of the major characters dies. Who is it? BTW, is Harry grown now? In the first movie he was a kid and this is the (5th?) book, so he must be hitting adolesence soon.

It took me 5 days to read Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix - 2 of which I didn't read at all because I was sick - I am a fast reader. I had to share the book with my husband and our son too... My son is not finished yet. I have started to read it again. The first time around I read very fast, just to know what would happen, now I can savor the details.... We got the book at midnight on Friday night too

Next recommendation for Sheila & other adults who've demonstrated the ability to read really long books in relatively short periods of time ...
Harry Potter is, you know, good and all that ... but ... that old fuddy-duddy Bloom might have half a point, a quarter of a point ... ?

Ded: You assume I haven't read this because why???? I read children's books 1. Because I wish to write them and to write one must read. 2. I am VERY, VERY. VERY well read thank you.

Relax, Shelia. I didn't assume anything. The recommendation wasn't just for you, and I didn't say you weren't well read. You've clearly missed my other remarks in other threads about Harry Potter (threads in which you were very active), and don't care to understand where I'm coming from.
I, in fact, haven't read Anna Karenina, but am going to this summer.
