Up until yesterday I thought that JW's could only be DF'd for marrying if they were not "scriturally free" to do so, that is, for example, if the JW's considered a persons marriage to be adulterous.

    Not so, however.

I spoke to my ex-wife yesterday, our first conversation in many, many years. She told me that she had been disfellowshipped for marrying, because her non-witness husband is a lieutenant in the Royal Navy.

Apparantly, if you marry a non-dub you are just branded as weak and "unevenly yoked". If you marry someone in the armed forces, then you are out on your ear.

What a shower these dubs are!

    Englishman,

I guess Joe Ratherflawed's mob just don't like any upstarts to "Rule, Britannia, Britannia Rules the Waves".

    Cheers,

    Englishman,

This should be made public! I am quite sure that Britain, like most countries, have laws against sabotage to recruitment to the armed forces. Such practices could be considered treason.

At any rate, I am sure that they'd be given hell for it in the press.

She should write to the Society, if she really wants to avoid DFing. They will NEVER dare to put into letter that they DF her for marrying a military man. Nothing in the literature indicates that this is acceptable procedure.

    Hey Englishman:

Are you sure that's the way it happened. I don't think marrrying an unbeliever no matter what his status or background may be is a disfel. offense. Where did they get married? If it was in a church or something then they could disfellowship her. Or if they had had sex before they were married. Holla Back!

    Englishman,

When you're in God's Army it's best not to sleep with enemy soldiers unless you're a spy. Your ex should have told the elders she was gathering information from the military of this old system of things, and was going to hand it over to General Jesus. Now as a disfellowshipped JW, she can't do that--All Is Lost! I guess we'll need to wait another 120 plus years before the Great War.

    Bigboi,

She'd been married to the guy for about a year before she was DF'd, she was living in Gosport in Navy quarters. She was pursued by the elders in Havant, about 12 miles distant.

A young woman (18) secretly dated a man in the military in South Carolina, got pregnant, and subsequently married him. He is still in the military, and they have two children, residing in Virgina on base.

She was publicly reproved for the out-of-wedlock pregnancy, but nothing further was ever done. She visits regularily our hall in good standing.

Perhaps it has to do with the local elders more than anything?
