Hey y'all. Sorry to build up expectations and then let y'all down but my parents' visit was the typical quickie. They came by, momma gave me a hug, we talked for a few minutes, then they left. Fresh out of the convention, they came over and never once brought up "coming back". Mom did manage to leave one of the older publications with me "to read in my private time". Yeah like I will!
I guess all I can say is that I'm glad that we got to have a visit. I got to hug my momma and spend some time with her and my [step]dad even if only for a few minutes. She did say one thing that stuck in my memory. And that was how proud they both are that I've always managed to take care of myself and did a good job of it. That was enough for me. See, coming from them that is a very high compliment. Coming from my [step]dad who told everyone when he kicked me out of the house 11 years ago that within 3 months I'd be crawling back because I couldn't make it on my own, well that's one hell of a lot of respect.
So I guess what this afternoon amounted to was just another small brick laid in the larger seige against the Empire's stranglehold on their minds.
Thank y'all so much for your encouragement. Sorry I didn't do more this time.
Mike.
