Australia is a beautiful place. One person I know, is here from Australia and we got into a conversation last night after she had gone shopping. We were laughing because she finds us so different. K~ told me of an incident where she went to the store and asked for a rubber. Welll.. they took her to the condom section.

The same thing happened when she asked where to find the thongs and they took her to the knicker section. I told her we called them flip flops here. The next thing that happened that had us in giggles was she asked if she could bum a fag. An the look on that person's face was too funny.

There is a great difference in language.

For those of us who are slang challenged:

Rubber= an eraser
Fag= Cigarettes
Thong=Flip Flops
Cut my throat= Hungry
knock u up later= call you
Fanny~ means not your bottom as it does here.

This is your mind on slang.. Any Questions ?

What do you think of this guy?

Would it surprise you to know that he is more famous and more liked overseas than in Australia? Most Aussies regard him as an embarassment and an idiot. The things he gets up to are highly dangerous and unnecessary. I think much of what he does is unresponsible, considering that he now has a young daughter. Although if he died, she's end up a very rich kid.

Re slang:

Bum = bottom

Fanny = vagina

Soft drink = soda

Lemonade = 7-Up

I am a big fan of the crockhunter show . I think the Irwins are very brave people and also a little nuts . They always tend to point out how wonderful nature is no matter how bad a rap some animals get that they are very interesting in their natural habitat. I would never want to handle some of the snakes and spiders or crocks that this guy does but sure enjoy watching him do it .

I love Croc Hunter. I saw him on Oprah the other day and his wife is pregnant again. I think his daughter has such a cute name...Bindy Sue after his favorite croc.

Tomorrow my 11 year old daughter comes home from 16 days in Australia.

She had to learn a whole slew of slang before she left. Though, "fanny" was certainly not on the list.

There's a suburb called Fanny Bay in Darwin (city in the north of Australia), and very swish suburb too (full of rich c**ts)!! Steve Irwin's good at what he does, so good on him... but he's still an f***ing idiot IMO... (oohh.. two swear words, bad lad Max...)
