Candles in the wind.

While on vacation in Slovenia, I was naturally looking around me to find some excellent and hilarious souvenirs to bring home with me. One day, me and my friend where at the supermarket to get some bare necessities (we were completely out of alcohol) and I saw some excellent candles. Little plastic models with wax in them. On it where crosses. Now, considering my background, those were hilarious. And so I grabbed a couple of them, to light them on splendid occasions when I would be home again. Now, as I grabbed those little candles, my eye fell on something even better ...... A HUGE red cross, with a crucified Jesus on it, and a candle inside. Now, as I was ROFL in that supermarket, I grabbed those as well, telling my friend that those are puuuuuurfect for my aunt, who is an ex Catholic, and has quite some negative feelings about that particular religion. ---- Fast forward to today. ---- I went to my aunts and uncles for dinner, and to show them the picts of my vacation. And naturally, to give my aunt that huge cross candle with the Jesus figure on it. She laughed her ass off, squealed with delight and was making mock gestures of worship for it. The candle got a honorary place in the house. In short, she was delighted with it. After dinner my cousin came as well, and I gave him one of the smaller ones. Upon seeing that one, my uncle joked that it looked like an urn, and naturally jokes were made about how the candle was actually meant to be burned on wakes, or at graveyards.... Well, while we were all laughing our asses off at the idea, I suddenly felt a nagging voice in the back of my mind, maybe indeed, those things were meant for graves.... But then I figured, it couldn't be, cuz those things could be bought at every supermarket, and gas station and such... The nagging voice kept on growing, and finally I text messaged one of my Slovenian friends "Tell me something, those candles I bought, with the cross on it, are those meant for graves? ... Just curious..." Within a minute I received one back "Well ofcourse they are, what did you think?!" LMAO. - Dutch District Overbeer

    What a 'grave' mistake, LOL!

I wouldn't feel bad about it...at least now you know why these people at the supermarket gave you funny looks as you bought these candles while sniggering madly...

It gets even worse ... My aunt told me she and my uncle burned the candle at night. They also had a huge bottle of wine, and things got ... uhm ... interesting... Dancing around the candle, laughing their asses off, while making mock gestures of worship to Eddy (their pet name for the candle).

OMG, you see, insanity does run in my family....

What gets me the most is not what your aunt and uncle were doing with their spare time at night but more the fact that they tolled you about it is what scares me....ugh! I wouldn't want to know how my aunt and uncle get horney and all with a crucifix candle...
