Hi Englishman: You asked, "Amazing,A question for you before I hit the hay. Reading your posts here and on H20, it's obvious to me that you have some exceptional qualities of insight. Could it be that it is this insight that prompted you and others to believe that you were of the "Anointed"?" ... Englishman."

For me, I can say no this did not impact what led to my professing that I was of the anointed. I cannot speak for others, but maybe in some cases some may have felt that 'special insight' was what made them anointed.

I believed that I was of the anointed about 2 or 3 years before partaking at a Memorial. I did not partake at first because I was both young in years at the time and new in the organization. The Society was even then playing down these features as making one 'unlikely' that Jehovah would call him/her as a replacement deep in this time of the end. Rather, older one in the organization many decades were more likely in the Society's eyes.

Then, the Society published some neat articles in the early 1970s about Cornelius being called prior to his baptism. Also, they published material about how Jehovah used King David over his older brothers because God saw past age. etc. ... So, I then felt brave enough to partake. As each Memorial passed and I was eventually appointed an MS then Elder, the issue was less of a concern for Other Sheep JWs. By the time I reached my 40s I was no longer subject to scrutiny - as much - except when a new CO came to town. Even in this things toned down.

But, what led me to believe I was anointed was that when I read the Bible, I applied it to me as a follower of Jesus Christ. So, when I arrived at verses talking about the spirit of sonship, etc. I connected with it. What was actually happening was not really a JW thing, but more of a normal aspect of being a Christian. I did not relate this to wisdom or special insight because at my young age, I was not experienced enough.

As I gained more in securlar education, exposure to many situations, raised 4 children, and lived life ... I learned what many adults do and I was able to articulate it to others. But, this had nothing to do with being anointed.

Since I have left the Jehovah's Witnesses organization my beliefs have changed substantially, such that I place no significance upon anointing. So, if I was of special insight and wanted attention, staying in the JWs would have resulted in greater personal gain.

    Hope this helps. - Amazing

    Cheers, Amazing.

I appreciate your candid answer, I couldn't help but wonder whether JW's so imprinted their converts with an earthly hope that anything else would be automatically snt to the recycle bin!

    Hello Amazing,

I do like your post. One thing that I never
questioned was the "claim" from someone to be of the "anointed",
i.e. -Christ's brothers and heirs of the Kingdom - because I
always believed and I still do it now, that such a "call" is a
v e r y personal thing with God, and to him one must render
    account.
