What happened to the New Covenant

    Good afternoon everyone,

Nobody ever mentions the New Covenant anymore. All we hear is doom and gloom, agony and despair. I would like to know if anyone here believes God is love and that he loves everybody enough to make them his sons like the New Covenant promises. Is there anyone who has faith that God will save and redeem every last one of us? Does anyone else believe there is no hell, no armageddon and that God is not an angry, vengeful God. Please let me hear your comments.

I don't believe in universal salvation. But I do believe that God will give everyone an equal opportunity to accept or reject Christ as the redeemer and savior of mankind. Millions of people living and dead have never had an opportunity to know Christ. Millions more have rejected the Christian faith because of the unchristian conduct of those professing Christianity. A just and loving God would have to provide this opportunity for all.

Did you know that Russell once taught that the "new covenant" did not apply to the "annointed class?" His reasoning was that since they were the "body of Christ" they were part of his sacrfice. He said the "new covenant" would only apply to Jews. As a result of this, many very prominent members left the organization including close friends and relatives of Russell. They termed themselves "the new covenanters." (See Penton's Apocalypse Delayed)

    Hi

    I believe in God.

I believe in life in heaven.

Armageddon is a big religious hoax, designed by Christendom's leaders to keep people in line.

I believe that God loves us all ; and I think he is a laid back kinda guy.

After leaving the Watchtower, all sorts of questions ran through my mind. I wanted to answer them in such a hurry ; I just couldn't stop finding out what the 'real truth' was ! But then I realised : Who knows ? None of us really know the truth.

Use the truth that appeals to you the most.

I hope this link helps you, my friend.

    Peace to you.

    Hi Hamus,

Thanks for your information. I am glad you are out and have overcome the fear this religion instills in all of us who have unfortunately been envolved in it. I enjoyed your post very much. May God bless you. I hope more people who are in fear will read your post.

Yea, that's an interesting article on escape the Watchtower Hamas (although is nothing more than soft higher criticism...you can attack any book of the bible using the kinds of reasonings the author of that article states), but even without the book of revelation, if you have faith in God and Jesus, and believe his word to be inspired and reliable (which I don't think you do anymore frankly - so you are hence without foundation and are now tossed hither and thither by every trickery of teaching), one cannot escape the fact that sooner or later God is going to intervene again in man's affairs to remove the rotten elements in this sytem. As a god of love and justice he is not going to forever sit in the heavens like some 'laid back kinda guy' and just let the wicked run around and oppress and kill the meek and innocent. If you believe that God is forever going to tolerate wickedness on earth then you have so lost the concept of who God is that you surely are totally confused. The bible's message is clear from Genesis to Revelation (spurious inserts in it or not) that paradise and everlasting life was what we had and lost, and that God will restore that purpose. There are many many scriptures littered throughout the bible that one can use to see clearly that God will one day take action on this planet to make things better again...it's not wishful thinking but what Jesus himself taught, ie, that he will return and will one day be a glorious king to rule from heaven. Have you so lost faith in the words of Christ that you now doubt that he will return Hamas?, or are you content to wallow in the muddy mire of higher criticism of his words too. Then were does that leave you Hamas. No better off than an athiest or agnostic. In fact agnostic now appears to be what you now are by your own admission: " But then I realised : Who knows ? None of us really know the truth." Hamas...didn't Jesus say "you WILL no the truth...and the truth will set you free!

Like so many on this site, you have thrown the baby out with the water, and I mean really thrown it out, in fact you have tried to crush and squash the baby into a bloody pulp...

While I don't believe only JW's are ultimately to be saved, and I fully expect a God of love to preserve probably 100's of millions when he finally does act (thru his son), there is no denying that he will act one day. In our life-time or not, who knows, but he will act....

    Noumenon-

In the Garden, man and woman realized their nakedness, so they covered themselves. God decided that the covering was insufficient/not of His design so He caused the first animal sacrifice and gave the couple animal skins. For years the Mosaic law required blood sacrifices, and then comes along the Messiah. His blood was for all time, and for all who believe in it, and partake of it (communion). In this world, full of mean men and women who are called theologians and commoners posing as religious hucksters there is no way for the majority to get a fair shake (just look at the Witness experience). Therefore, we have NO idea of what God's mercy is and how it works. The judgement spiels are for those unaware of the "Everlasting compassion" of God. I gave up the judge's robes, maybe more of us should - heck, the earth would be a far more harmonious and beautiful place.

    peace and blessings,

    lawrence

I think it is probably a matter of whether "the glass is half full or half empty." Some religions concentrate on the judgment aspects of the Bible that ends in death and destruction. Certainly this is true of the Watchtower Society. Others concentrate on the teachings of Christ about love, mercy, kindness and life everlasting. Having been on both sides, I must say that I am willing to leave the judgment to God and enjoy the life that is left to me by sharing these qualities that Christ showed to me with family, friends and stangers.
