2016 WT printing reduction - Figures

  The WT has been reducing it's printed output of the public WT magazine since 2012.
  This is how the figures breakdown:

  Month ................. WT Printing Each Issue ............. Total Pages per Issue ..... Languages
  JANUARY 2012 ....... 42,182,000 .................................. 1,349,824,000 ...................... 194
  JANUARY 2016 ....... 58,987,000 .................................. 943,792,000 ......................... 254

  During 2012 the public WT had 32 pages, so there were 1.35 billion WT pages printed for the public to read each month.
  1,349,824,000 pages x 12 months = 16,197,888,000 (16.2 billion) pages per year

  By 2016 the public WT has only 16 pages and is being printed only on alternate months.
  943,792,000 pages x 6 times per year = 5,662,752,000 (5.7 billion pages per year)

  
  

  Therefore, since 2012 the society has reduced the printing of its public WT magazine by 10.5 billion pages each year.

  How much money does the society save by not printing 10.5 billion pages each year?

  Note, this is the public WT only and does not include the Awake! which has also undergone a dramatic reduction.

  Basically they are finally admitting that no one is reading the wt and awake including jw's. Just part of the money saving moves. Been a dub 65 years and have hardly ever read a complete magazine. Wife and I have tossed many grocery bags full of old magazines though. The magazines became weaker and weaker and are now irrelevant!

  The world's most boring and paranoid magazine. It was and perhaps is still being distributed in vast quantities if those figures are right Splash.

  Who though is interested in this trash? It's hard enough for the JWs to read... how can the public make sense of the GB's obsessive propaganda? Five times as many printed as there are JWs, that means only one fifth are opened and then only reluctantly read and many of those do so do it out of JW ritual not from interest.

  That's because the more Watchtowered a person is, the more closed-minded a person becomes. Impairs one's ability to think clearly for him/herself, over-righteous , dogmatic.

  Thanks for crunching all those numbers. I never would have known that because when you look at the number in 2012 compared to 2016 the number of printing goes up, so you would figure so does the total printing. But the way you broke it down, wow! All those missing mags in total. Must fill a complete warehouse.

  Keep in mind that in 2005 they were printing even more - 128 pages every month. Now they're only printing 48 (study edition of WT which is 32 pages and 16 pages of either Awake or WT). A 63% reduction.

  And I would say the content went from deeper things to milk-toast over the years, even in the study edition. It's like drinking watered-down soda.

  Either way it's all nonsense and as it turns out, was mostly incorrect all these years.

  Besides, every possible topic has been covered over the years so there was no need to keep writing about them over and over each month and foisting them on the public every Saturday morning. They finally wised up and took the date off the magazines so they could be considered current, any time.
