I know how this is going to sound ... but .... who cares.

I remember well the events of 9/11 and the World Trade Center, I remember when the Twin Towers fell, I lost all televsions connect because my access was on the Towers, now I have cable.

I remember getting online and visitiong ceratin Chatrooms, particularly on AOL and listening to the JW's gloat about the deaths and how they were better off dead because they would have died at armagedon.

I remember hearing of the Watchtower Society shutting their doors because people were seeking refuge within its walls.

What I didn't know, was that Alex Loutsky FDNY/EMT, (a Bible Student in Staten Island, NY) , was the first responder, accordingly he was "t he emergency medical technician who first notified the emergency response system of the attack on the WTC." - EMS Mag Jan '02

    Did/do you know him?

Don't worry about how this sounds, we lost a former colleague who had just been laid off and had just started her next job w/ Blue Cross down there. So with just that people here still talk about it as if we have some special connection to the disaster. It's a small world, and we need the reminders that life is knitted together.

I'm still hearing interesting tidbits about the disaster. Not long ago I was sitting next to someone on the LIRR and the person next to her said "You weren't wearing those high heels on 9/11 were you?" She said: "Are you kidding, if I was wearing these, I wouldn't be alive today."

I guess you missed the part where I said:

Yes, I know Br. Alex very well, I was with him last week in Johnstown, PA, where we attended the General Convention of Bible Students.

Funny thing is I never really knew what he did for work and never knew of his connection to 9/11, until in discussion with some Bible Stdents in Chicago who are putting together this public witness effort and they askd me if I could give them Alex's number (he didn't attend ALL six days of the convention because he wad to work).

So in conversation I found out about his role and how in essence he will go down in the history books. Alex NEVER speaks about it.

I know quite a few people who lost loved ones in that tragedy, sons, daughters, husbands and wives. I know one couple in our church whose son worked on the seventh floor when the first plane hit, he literally ran down the stairs out the doors, jumped into a taxi gave the driver $350.00 and told him to take him to Jersey. He apparently was there a few years earlier when they attempted to blow the twoers up the first time and panicked, good thing, it saved his life.

I remember the first time the towers were attacked, I lived in Jersey City and was on my way to New York, via the World Trade Center, I use to work across the street from there. I never made it because I couldn't find parking near the station, when I got home, my wife called to tell me what had happened. Good thing I didn't make it, eh?
