  Just a fun idea inspired by Seth Andrews latest podcast (the thinking atheist)

  Ask a believer if they agree with the following statements of faith:

  • One should strive to act with compassion and empathy towards all creatures in accordance with reason.
  • The struggle for justice is an ongoing and necessary pursuit that should prevail over laws and institutions.
  • One’s body is inviolable, subject to one’s own will alone.
  • The freedoms of others should be respected, including the freedom to offend. To willfully and unjustly encroach upon the freedoms of another is to forgo one's own.
  • Beliefs should conform to our best scientific understanding of the world. We should take care never to distort scientific facts to fit our beliefs.
  • People are fallible. If we make a mistake, we should do our best to rectify it and remediate any harm that may have been caused.
  • Every tenet is a guiding principle designed to inspire nobility in action and thought. The spirit of compassion, wisdom, and justice should always prevail over the written or spoken word.

  If they agree, then tell them where these tenets come from! Yes, they are the founding tenets of the Satanic Temple. (A secular, non religious organisation- NOT actually devil worshippers by the way)

  Then watch their face when you tell them they have agreed with the Satanic Temple's tenets!😜

  If they're paying attention they'll raise a problem with this one. Maybe not with the latter portion (though the GB certainly don't have any qualms about violating that bit too) but they'll definitely not agree that one's beliefs should be based upon scientific understanding.

  Without meaning to sound patronizing, I don't think most jws I know around here would fully understand some of those statements.

  They are also quite a suspicious bunch these days and unless you start using terms that ring their little Pavlovian bells, they tend to think you're out to trap them!

  Seriously though, I remember one time when I was a kid, and asked my elder Dad about how serious it was teaching something that was wrong, and he actually said that, basically...

  ..."being right wasn't as important as 'being in the Truth'... i.e. maintaining unity as an Organization in the face of Satan's World."

  It was odd; he was a complete loyalist who'd stayed on through 1975, but...

  ...he was a very kind man (everyone loved him, JWs and "worldy" people), and occasionally bent the rules.

  Hmm... in retrospect, maybe that was why he didn't stay an elder.

  I think that your questions would just fly right over the heads of current J.W.`s with the limited education their allowed to receive .

  They would have no comprehension on how to make a sensible answer because of not knowing what the questions actually mean.

  I asked a couple with a cart about why if everything was so good even before humans God let an asteroid kill off the dinosaurs. They knew nothing about an asteroid and one claimed they all died at the flood and the other claimed God "phased them out"!

  Ask them to show you in the "New testament" a scripture /any scripture in the "new Testament" that Christians are to be /should be witnesses of Jehovah .?

  Also the WTB&TS published "The kingdom Interlinear Of The Christian Greek Scriptures" some time back .

  Ask them to show you in this publication of theirs where the Tetragrammaton { 4 Hebrew letters} or its equivalent 4 Greek letters occur in their word for word translation of the Greek into English that they base their New World Translation of the Bible on.

  And if neither of them are their then neither should the name/word "Jehovah" be in the "New testament" or the Christian Greek Scriptures as they like to call it.

  It is zero on both counts.
