I saw a report about this in the newspaper. Thanks for the information. It seems to indicate a regular policy of the church to keep this problem internal. I'm sure this is why the issue never made public notice until the news media exposed it. Now that it is public knowledge, the church is desparately trying to repair the damage that has been done.
The Watchtower doesn't seem to be learning lessons from this. The leaders are still downplaying the significance of it and trying hard to dismiss it. But I'm afraid the problem will not go away no more than it did for the Catholic church. Let's hope the Watchtower Society will make the same efforts that the Catholic church now seems to be doing.
I saw this on tv last night and thought how similar it was to the WTS problem. It seems that both the Catholic Church and the JWs are guilty of covering up the abuse scandals under threat of expulsion. Those who do not follow the guideline to cover up and keep it secret are excommunicated! The same is true for JW's. I would think that whatever legally happens to Catholic Church becomes a precedent of what should happen to the JW leaders who practice the exact same thing. This is why I get so burned up when the JWs throw stones at the Catholics.
The interesting item on tonight's news was the offer the Catholic church of Boston is making to the victims of sexual abuse. (55 Million dollars) It remains to be seen whether or not this offer will be accepted. But it is a start.
In contrast, the Watchtower Society has made no offer. And it continues to try to litigate some of the victims. Has it no shame?
How about Sex crimes covered up by the Jewish community ?
