Today we're launching Disfellowshipped, a three-episode story about the Jehovah's Witnesses' practice of shunning, told in virtual reality.

We designed Disfellowshipped to be an immersive experience, best viewed with a VR headset. (You can find several affordable models on Amazon.) But you can also watch it on most newer smartphones and desktops in 360-degree flat video, without a headset.

In September, we previewed the project in Berlin, home of Vragments, the VR company we collaborated with. We opened a VR pop-up studio there for a week. You can read about it here:

(To choose a story, and there are three, just use your mouse to grab a hold of the screen, and move the title of the story you want to line up & center with the little red circle in the middle. That selects and starts the story)

I chose the story, "Inside the investigation" and used my mouse to look around. It's like using Google maps where you grab onto the screen, and pull it to where you want to go. You can do this on Trey's desktop. You can swirl around, look at his computer screen, or grab and swirl over to look at the books sitting on his desk, or look up, and see Trey talking...
