I don't get the big deal about this. You could always watch the broadcast on Apple TV. Just like going to any website. -

not quite. You could watch it on Apple TV via airplay, streaming it from an iOS or OS X device to the ATV. There was no way to natively watch them. The old ATVs had no app, and until now, the ATV4 didn't have one.
