Snooker debate has finally been settled...................

While commentating on the UK Masters final last night, he said this;

“If there's anyone in any sport displaying more genius at their sport than Ronnie O'Sullivan does at snooker, I've yet to see it. Best player I've ever seen!”

All of my life I've bee privileged to see great sportsmen/women, but never one whom I would describe as a genius - until Ronnie O'Sullivan appeared. I was delighted to hear Stephen Hendry express the same sentiments I've felt for several years. Well done to him, and thanks and praise to Ronnie O'Sullivan for his incredible playing skills.

He is damn good! but c'mon that's called a sport too? At least in golf you walk few kilometers in a game. Oh I forgot, they ride those carts. Snooker is more like a game at which practice is the main ingredient. I take the Michael Jordans, the Peles, The Gretzkys as far more gifted and impressive.

Yes, neverajw, it is a sport. And a damned fine one.

Do you play? You have to be in pretty good physical shape to stay at the table for those long runs. In snooker, the physical preparation is critical.

Good physical shape? I don't play, but it's hard for to believe that the chunky guy or even O'Sullivan can keep up with any professional sports player, except for some base ball players and golfers.

NeveraJW, it is an apple and orange comparison - it isn't really the same.

Baseball players and golfers don't have to develop the fine motor skills that are required for snooker, which by itself is enhanced when a player has physical strength.

Game or sport, doesn't alter the fact that he is a genius at it. I see people who are great or fantastic to watch at their sport and some can even be brilliant at times, but O'Sullivan's abilities on a snooker table are on a totally different level from every snooker player who's ever lived. He's not one in a million - he's one in billions.
