I got a call from a lady I worked with 48 years ago. This was when I first went to work when my dad died. I was the same age as her son, 18 at the time and she knew my mother's mom and dad, she lived near them back when I was a little kid. She said she remembered me, my brother, and two of my uncles coming over to her house back then.(My uncles were the same age as we were and we played together as kids.)
We were close friends when we worked together, she was like a mother and always brought me lunch and we would eat together. This was another example of a worldly person that I Ioved to associate with. I studied with her for a while and her son but she still liked me. She called to let me know that a lady we worked with back then had died.
This brought back some good memories. I was working with her when I got married the first time and I brought her where I worked to meet this lady. She invited me up to visit her, she is 87 years old now and her husband is 96. She has had a very hard time with sickness for years and is about blind now. I am going up to visit her tomorrow, I had forgotten her over the years. Talking to her almost mad me cry as we recalled some of the times when we worked together. You shouldn't forget your friends like this.

Good lord, man, you're older than . . . than . . . ME!! Go figure! I'm glad you were able to get back in touch with her -- I'm sure it's a wonderful memory for her to have too. Everyone likes to be appreciated!
I just got back from visiting my long lost friend. I couldn't find her home for a while, it was on a dirt road back when I studied with her and now it's paved and looks different. I saw this old man sitting on the porch and I thought I recognized him so I stopped and it was her home. That was her 96 yr old husband, he looked good for his age. I went in and we had a very good time reminiscing the old days.
She reminded me of so many things I had forgotten. She still had an 8x10 picture I took of her grandchildren back in 65. I did a pretty good job, I still remember the day I took it. The girl is a sherif and the boy is a minister now. She told me a lot of things I had forgotten that happened when we were working together. 90% of the ones we worked with are dead now. Time sure has flown by, it seems like only a few years ago.
The lady she called about that died that we worked with is my daughter-in-law's great aunt. I drove by her home on the way home from the SS hearing for my step-son.(He got his disability). My daughter-in-law was going to the funeral. Small world.
