Black Mirror TV Series

If you're looking for something new to watch, I can really recommend this show. It's on Netflix and there is a new series starting soon. Don't let "series" put you off - they are only 3 or 6 episodes long.

    How to describe it?

It's like a dark, disturbing version of "Tales of the Unexpected" or "The Twilight Zone". Each episode is a standalone story but they have links between them (like Easter-eggs ...a song featured in ono, on in the background of the next).

Most are about the future and a commentary on how our society uses or misuses technology and the impact on us. Many of them have you trying to figure out what is going on and sometime jolt you into the realization that you didn't know what was happening or your sympathies for a character were misplaced.

If you like the kind of TV or movies where, the day after watching it you're still thinking about it, you should give it a try..

So many good episodes, they keep getting better. White Bear is probably my favorite so far.

I really like most of the Netflix series that I have seen. I'm going to have a look at Black Mirror.

I love it Simon ,however I was put off at first by the first episode series 1 ,However as you say different storys ,actors situations sure make it a must see series especially with the twists in it.

Something really left of field to watch

Yeah, the first episode is one of the weakest IMO. The 2nd + 3rd series really pick up.

The like / dislike social media rating future one ... wow, I can almost see that becoming real.

We've watched every single episode and love it! Reminded us both of an updated Twilight Zone.

The social.media rating one is a bit too close to the bone. Can easily see this becoming a reality no matter how much Teresa May bangs on about an equalising in society it is not going to happen. The rich will not give up their wealth and a huge swathe of British society has 2 people in full time work but still don't earn enough to rent a house and will never ever be able to buy. A child will make them eligible for benefits as their pay is too low to afford one so I can easily see a "social rating" determining where you live, how you can travel and keeping you within a peer group of people with a similar score.

Charlie Brooker is only next to Chris Morris for quality of script writing this type of TV in my book.

I like the show. It's very well made. I'm currently watching season 3.

Somebody posted about that show here and mentioned their Christmas special episode that has a technology that resembles the WT shunning practice.

That said, if you are the type that loves happy endings and charming stories, stay away from that show. The very first episode sets the tone about the darkness of the stories. However, my suggestion is that if you get disgusted with the plot of the first episode, please keep in mind that each episode is a completely unrelated story. You won't see people having sex with a pig on live TV in the rest of the episodes. Enjoy

Haven't watched the new season yet, 'cause I'm still catching up on The X-Files for the first time in over 15 years.

Might check it out when I (inevitably) need a break from Mulder and Scully, though.
