I vaguely remember when the 5,000 year old mummy was first discovered in Sept 1991. I was twelve. He was quickly given the name 'Oetzi' because he was found in the Oetztaler alps.

My granddad had a book about it and after he died, I took his book home with me.

Apparently, some scientists believe that Oetzi died from an arrow shot and a blow to the head.

    Interesting.

Abel just died from the blow, it took one thousand years of arms race to kill at a distance, he also had a copper axe that was not taken from him before he was snowed under and froze. His closest modern day descendants live in Corsica, Sardinia, home of European supercentenarians. They are freezing people again for future use.

What puzzles me, is, how come, if he died just around the time of the flood, why his private glacier tomb was not lifted up above Mt. Blanc, the Matterhorn, Everest? Ice floats on water right?

Abel just died from the blow - interesting pov.

I read in my granddad's book that Oetzi had either arrow quivers or a pouch for arrows with him when he died.

His closest ancestors live in Corsica, Sardinia - yes, I read that Oetzi was likely south European (Mediterranean).

" What puzzles me, is, how come, if he died just around the time of the flood, why his private glacier tomb was not lifted up above Mt. Blanc, the Matterhorn, Everest? Ice floats on water right? "

I was still in when he was discovered, but I remember thinking " I wonder if this is a pre-Flood guy, and will it cause any problems for the W.T ???"

The WT claims the "deluge" as they prefer to call it, of Noah's day occurred in 2370 BCE. So I would think good old Oetzi does cause them some problems really, but these are not so large as the problems of pre-Adam and Eve Agriculture, Temples and many humans having Neanderthal genes/DNA, when the Neanderthals died out 35,000 or more years ago.

Maybe you remember the Awake! cover articles?

    Awake! 8 May 1995, pages 1 to 9

The Mummy That Came in From the Cold

At first sight it might have seemed like the scene of a crime. A dried-out corpse lay facedown, half trapped in the ice. An accidental death? A revenge killing? Or simply another mountain-climbing victim? In any case, what was he doing there in the silence of the Tirolean Alps 10,500 feet above sea level? Who was he? And how did he die?

darkspilver: Thank you for posting that. Does not the Iceman look like Hitler, who was born not too far from the find, and : read the fine print at the bottom of page four: " Awake builds confidence in the Creator's promise of a new world--that the generation that saw the events of 1914 will not pass away. " With Oetzi and the flood dated the same age, why did he not float away? at least we know that Noah must have had copper tools. he must have spend more time sharpening them than actually working, if you know how long a finely honed edge lasts, and how hard it is to woodwork without them.

Yes, thanks for posting that Awake article, darkspilver. It was actually pretty good - one of their better ones.

I actually remember Oetzi being on the news in September, 1991. I was a twelve year old kid at the time, more interested in football and girls but it stuck with me.

I was 10 when Oetzi was discovered. The following year, when I started middle school (sixth grade), there was already a documentary on him and they showed it in one of my classes. I still remember it pretty vividly, considering that was 25 years ago.
