As an artist I try to create emotional responses through abstruct paintings. Sometimes an element of pain or hurt I felt is represented on canvas and the pain or hurt is then gone from inside me forever, but remains for ever on the canvas and I hope is felt and understood by the viewer.

I wish I could do the same with the written word so that I could really make myself understood to the reader. But I cant!. The same was true when I started painting, what I painted was oftern poor but because I was always encouraged by people who never mocked my terrible efforts but concentrated on the positives I developed emotionally as well as an artist.

I think the same is true of many on this forum they have been hurt by the W.T. and they use that hurt to encourage people. And it doesnt really matter to them what the person who posts now belives they are accepted. This is so far removed from the conditional love that I have been involved with over the years.

I hope to share my W.T. experience soon. The story is good the writting will be poor. I also suspect there are many out there who read the posts but dont contribute because they are at a fragile time in there lifes and there story can be to personal to share with strangers for many reasons. In my exsperience I would say just introducing yourself with a "HI" is a good begginning. Then I read the previouse posts of those that welcomed me. Michael

    Howdy Michael.

Don't worry about the writing. Say what's in your heart and the story will unfold the way it should. You're among friends here.

But if you ever want to post a photo of your art, please feel free. I'd love to see it.

I don't think you're alone thinking that you can't express yourself perhaps as well as some others do.

    It doesn't matter.

The personal accounts and 'sharing' mean a lot to many and you are right - a lot of people do read them even though they may not feel ready or able to share their own.

    Hi, Michael.

It is helpful to read others' experiences. I have laughed, cried at many of them. And to agree with Big Tex, your writing's just fine.

I'd love to see your work. I love to make abstract paintings, and to see others'. Do you ever work with mixed media? Isn't it amazing how each person sees different things in your paintings? I have one friend who looks at each new piece, and then tells me a story about it. He is a musician, and very creative. I always enjoy showing him my stuff.

    Happy you are here!

Dear Micheal, as a fellow artist I can relate to the cathartic nature of artistic expression. Often when we are at our lowest we do our most brilliant work. With so many different people with such varied cultures and customs some will be touched by the expressions from the heart of another. Don't worry about sentence structure and grammar, write from that deep, secret' "little brook" in your heart. You will have an impact on those who feel as you do. As artists our job is to evoke feelings out of people they didn't even know were there! Maverick

    Michael -

Welcome. I'm so glad you're here. I would love to see your paintings. I guess each of us has a way to release the pain. For me, I call it "making beauty from chaos". It's been ages since I painted but now the release comes in a variety of packages. I'll cook...I'll sing Broadway showtune at the top of my lungs (theatre major in college)...I'll craft something...hell..I'll re-arrange the furniture...whatever helps. But, occasionally, I'll sit down and write out my feelings. Just let the words flow from your heart. We'd love to hear your story.
