Beards are being overlooked in my area it seems - But I am not in the mainstream no moh! However a bearded elder spoke to a family member last week. So...??

In my ex wife's congregation in Texas, I met an elder that has a very nice looking beard. He can't shave due to Medical Reasons.

Never a problem for me , I wore a beard for well over a decade from the mid-seventies to the late eighties, and preached more visibly than most of my fellow JW's, as I was a JW Street Preacher in those days.
I was a M.S and gave Public Talks locally and in other Congregations.
I guess in the U.K we were it a bit more sensible in those days , mind you, in many a U.K Congregation the local nazi Elders would have looked upon my facial hair with horror I would think, I was just lucky where I was.
Nowadays a few Elders and MS's around here has a beard, none are used to give talks at Conventions though, if you want that you must be clean shaven, even the Sisters.
