Likely the Branch has had enough time to send all of their excess funds out of Australia. Poor religion is damn near broke, so they can only kick in a few coins (like the poor widow).

How can a company that has unpaid, volunteer labor and pays no taxes ever be "near broke"? You must be being sarcastic?
Sorry, Simon. I think we need a "Sarcasm Button" to click.
Yes, I'm certain the Branch has created AN ILLUSION of being broke in Australia and have already sent all their money to "Mother".

I have heard an unsubstantiated comment that the Australian branch had sold all of their assents and transferred the money outside of Australia before they joined the redressing scheme. Is there any truth to it? Or just hearsay?
Just hearsay as far as I know.
However every annual tax return shows huge sums of money going to "charitable causes" and "overseas aid"
Obviously getting sent to the U.S. as do other Branches around the world.
Been doing this for years now.
I recall JWleaks used to provide annual tax return documents for the Australian branch.

Oh, it happened.
It was reported on by intrepid journalists a couple years back.
Can you lead me to a verifiable source please?
Ok, I was able to find a retraction from News Corp regarding that report ....
