And I thouroughly enjoyed it ,I almost got to the stage of wanting to become a Catholic. It was a joy to watch the two main actors in dialogue and banter with each other..... And I`m an Atheist ?

    Pope Benedict & Pope Francis

Then I did a bit of research and found that it was largely a work of fiction some of the key scenes in the movie did not transpire .

While that was a bit of a let down ,I would still recommend this movie to watch if not only for the performances of these two great actors. Jonathan Pryce and Anthony Hopkins

I too, enjoyed it. One wonders if members of the GB had genuine feelings, tho deluded, how the JW landscape would be affected.

So what’s not factual? Is the whole movie fictional?

Pope Benedict wanted to retire as pope. So did Francis as an archbishop, only many years earlier than most archbishops, whose normal retirement age was 75. Francis and Benedict had vastly different ideas on the way the church should go. Benedict was concerned that if Francis retired before him it would look as though Francis had retired in protest at Benedict's papacy. So he was summoned from Argentina to Rome for further discussions. The film is basically about the relationship between the 2 men and is, IMHO, well worth viewing.

We watched it a couple of days ago too. It's a blatant piece of pro-Catholic propaganda but for entertainment I thoroughly recommend it.

Perhaps they disagreed upon the policy of their corpses being put on display for the public for a few decades after they died. I toured Vatican City and St Peter's Basilica a few months ago and although impressive, as bad as the GB is and how blindly JW's follow them, I couldn't help but wonder what would happen if they dug up Charles Taze Russel and put him on display at the new HQ in New York. Would people flock to take pictures and kiss his glass tomb. It was pretty weird.
