Impact of transformation of jw organization

The organization transforms quickly into a multimedia self-help feel good religion. I am very allergic to it. Can not hide it either. How are others involved in this? This must have an impact on some of the witnesses' population? See only Lemmings.

    ...self-help feel good religion...

How so? Self-help? Anything that it's for one's self is discouraged in that religion.

I'm not. Been away from it for quite some time.. What i know about them is from what I read here. For what I have heard, the changes that they are making are reactive to the way people are and communicate today, and to the fact that there's access to so much information about them as well as ex-JWs who know each other. The changes seem more consequential than anything else.

    I wouldn't call it "self-help".

The transition seems to be from a pseudo-depth of doctrinal integrity, to a behavior-control group in which (approved) actions are far more important than any understanding of exactly what you are doing or why you are doing it.

I.e., from "eccentric but sincere religious belief" to "mindless conformity and obedience".

Shallow and superficial, emotionally charged, "feel-good" conformism is how I would describe the modern form of the organisation.

The changes within the WT are a reflection of the fact they are just looking at the future and that they don't care for the past. They know that the people that worked their whole life building their empire are now quite old and not happy with the new religion, but they don't care; they are after the new generation even if they have to make their religion another evangelical cult.

You are right: I watched the old jw's at the convention and they were quit and down.

I have been out for 6 years or so, there has been lots of changes, but I can't imagine that JWs walk away from a meeting or assembly with a "feel good" buzz, rather than the normal fear, obligation, and guilt over not doing more.

But it certainly seems to be focusing on the JW lifestyle over the illusion of doctrinal depth like it used to.
