News article on JW convention

Hey, I've pasted below, a link to an article about the JW convention in the state of Oklahoma, just sent to me by a JW relative. According to their spokeman, it's the first one to be held this year. He is also quick to mention all the 'persecution' in Russia, while staying silent on the worldwide abuse, and shunning issues (a form of persecution in itself, IMO).

If anyone would like to help me add to the comments section, it'd be appreciated. I just feel that the public at large might benefit by knowing the other side of the story. Especially those who have been invited to attend.

Btw, the one comment under that article isn't mine. I'm trying to come up with something, but it's been a busy work day. I heard something about '1975' being on their agenda, but since I'm not/never been a JW, I don't have the inside scoop on it.

Jehovah Witnesses to hold regional convention in Pueblo

Faithful from across the region are expected to come to Pueblo for the 2017 Convention of Jehovah's Witnesses.
This year's convention is titled "Don't Give Up," and will be held May 19-21 at the Colorado State Fairgrounds' Southwest Motors Events Center, 1001 Beulah Ave. The public is invited. There is no admission fee and no collections will be taken.

About 10,000 Jehovah’s Witnesses coming to Columbus for conventions

Jeremy Brown says it does’t matter whether they are walking in neighborhoods knocking on doors or opening the doors of their regional conventions to the public, the purpose of Jehovah’s Witnesses is always the same.
“We are trying to give people hope,” Brown said.
On two weekends in June, Jehovah’s Witnesses will be holding regional conventions at the Columbus Civic Center. Everyone is invited to attend at no cost.
Convention spokesman William Goodman said more than 9,800 Jehovah’s Witnesses from Alabama, Georgia and Florida are expected to attend.
