I was watching one of my favorite movies the other day -- "All the President's Men" -- when this fabulous statement was made : "When you've got 'em by the balls their hearts and minds will follow."
How true.
Makes me think of the drones in the Land of Dub. For most of them they are in the organization because it is a religion based on fear. How many would stay in if there wasn't the strict controls in place? How many would openly vocalize the gnawing questions that must come up in their minds from time to time but kept to themselves because they didn't want to be perceived as "weak"? How many good men and women are kept in mental and emotional chains because of the fear of losing their family, friends and good name? What potential careers in medicine, science, politics, sports, the arts, academia, theology and humanitarian work never even got off the ground because of this religions teachings? Fear of disfellowshipping. Fear of Armageddon. Fear of reprisal from God, the elders, family, the organization, Jesus, the angels, the demons, the world, Babylon the Great, the United Nations, the King of the North, the King of the South, the apostates, immorality, sin....so much to fear, so much to keep one marching in the hum-drum procession of doom and gloom (but all with a smile on your face). So much to prevent you from living up to your own potential -- to prevent you from thought itself!
"When you've got 'em by the balls their hearts and minds will follow."
How true. How sad.
