"When you've got 'em by the balls their hearts and minds will follow"

I was watching one of my favorite movies the other day -- "All the President's Men" -- when this fabulous statement was made : "When you've got 'em by the balls their hearts and minds will follow."

    How true.

Makes me think of the drones in the Land of Dub. For most of them they are in the organization because it is a religion based on fear. How many would stay in if there wasn't the strict controls in place? How many would openly vocalize the gnawing questions that must come up in their minds from time to time but kept to themselves because they didn't want to be perceived as "weak"? How many good men and women are kept in mental and emotional chains because of the fear of losing their family, friends and good name? What potential careers in medicine, science, politics, sports, the arts, academia, theology and humanitarian work never even got off the ground because of this religions teachings? Fear of disfellowshipping. Fear of Armageddon. Fear of reprisal from God, the elders, family, the organization, Jesus, the angels, the demons, the world, Babylon the Great, the United Nations, the King of the North, the King of the South, the apostates, immorality, sin....so much to fear, so much to keep one marching in the hum-drum procession of doom and gloom (but all with a smile on your face). So much to prevent you from living up to your own potential -- to prevent you from thought itself!

"When you've got 'em by the balls their hearts and minds will follow."

    How true. How sad.

Yea, pretty much sums it for me. Did you also mention the fear of seperation from God if the JW leaves the organzation? This may the the biggest of all the 'fears' the Watchtower uses to keep the JW in line. Ironic since, if there was ever a religion that keeps people bogged down and seperated from God, it would be the Wacthtower Society. Unreal . . .

You're right though. It is a religion based on fear, while all the while it's followers walk around with 'smiley' faces. I could never live a lie like that again. So glad I left.

    LOL

You said a mouthful there Bradley.

"When you've got 'em by the balls their hearts and minds will follow", sounds like the Day's Text at the Borg.

Conductor: Thank you for that comment Brother Logan. And now to illustrate this point Sisters Pistoff and Buldyke will perform this new door to door technique that the FD&S has so lovingly provided.

Pistoff: And Mr. Householder you can see that all the things that ex-members say simply isn't true.

Householder: I'm afraid I just can't accept that God wants me to follow a group of elderly men that are in such trouble with the law. It's in the news everywhere ya know and all over the internet. It seems crazy that such control can be exerted here in the 21st. century.

Buldyke: (reaches in his pants and yanks balls out into position ready to be slammed between the pages of Lamentations of a large print bible.)

Householder: ( high Pitch) On the other hand I guess there is no harm in accepting your literature... just don't harm my boys!

Buldyke: (Loosening grip a little) Jehovah will richly bless your desire to know the truth...and the truth will set you free. (as she lets go)

Conductor: And I believe that will conclude tonight's service meeting. So, let's all stand and sing song # 164 " Children A Precious Gift From God"

LOL ... I wish the service meeting parts were as funny ... but then who'd leave?

Bradley, as always a great topic. And I loved that movie, All the Presidents Men. I wish journalists were still like those guys at the Washington Post.

I think many stay because of the hope of the *New System*. The fantasy they have been fed seems to have a strange mind hold. Their goal is the new system. Our goal was the new system. Everything was for the new system.

All the bully tactics keep you from researching and finding out the *truth*. However, if you want that fantasy, when the *truth* is presented to you, you will refute it as Satan....

My mother got CoC, read most of it, agreed that it had to be true, then decided that her fantasy of the new system is just too strong. She had to go back to Wonderland.

    LOL!

    Frannie,

The Faithful and Discret Slave explains it this way: They are in fact a sort of divine anti-type pre-figuring a modern Feminine Deodorant Spray.

Only God can take the credit for the emergence of FDS in modern society.

Yes, they rule by fear. But I say as I have said all along: you can't be walked on unless you lie down first. And all who remain in the JWs who do so out of fear are lying down. They fear these little men who couldn't get a real job in the real world for shit. These guys who come to "adjust your thinking" couldn't adjust the pilot light on your water heater. And people fear them? I say pick your fight and pick you opponent, but for god's sake, don't humiliate yourself by fearing a fight with Caspar Milquetoast, and that's what 99% of these elders are.

Get up off the damn floor and act like men, and tell the elder to piss up a rope.
