Yes I go door to door im in the pest control business and when I need more work. There has been a drought in Australia the past couple of years and the little creepy crawlies dont breed. Door to door is the best advertising on an average night I can get $600 per hour in work. I just wish I had gone to more ministry school to hone my skills. Have any of you out there used what you learnt to make money? Barry

I use the skills to teach an equally hated topic....I'm a high school math teacher. I'm better at that than I ever was selling magazines to the householders. Shoshana

My public speaking has helped with presentations and speaking at symposiums.\
Also, I was in retail commission sales for years... I was asked how I dealt with the rejection. I said, "Look, I used to knock on people's doors during the Saturday Game of the Week and tell people they had to change their religion or they were going to die! Now, people come into my store voluntarily looking for electronics. You don't know what rejection is!"

This thread reminded me of my attitude toward the end of my JW days. I felt that if I was going to spend that much time talking to people about something, I had damn well better get paid for it. So I went ahead with my marketing business and did just that.

I wish I could remember the last time I went door to door as a JW, that was an event I would like to memorialize. I think it was in DC in 1973. Never again.

Yes, Barry....that door-to-door training, ESPECIALLY that ol' "die-hard" training to be persistent was a TREMENDOUS skill to learn....It helped me so much when I became inactive and returned to the stage as a strip tease artist, hustling faux champagne from the customers....
