quick question: Do JW's become U.S. Citizens?

So I know a person that just became a U.S. citizen. he was explaining to me all the testing he had to go through and how he had to pledge allegiance to the united states. he was happy as a barrel of monkeys.

So i got to thinking. So how in the world do PIMI or PIMO dubs who want to become legal citizens get around this without getting DF'd? to my knowledge i have never heard of a dub becoming a legal citizen. so i am assuming they are all illegal .

In the US, you can opt out of any sort of "oath of allegaince" while submitting all the right paperwork. I've known many who have done so.

I once observed a "swearing in" ceremony for citizenship. There were maybe 40 or 50 people doing it at the same time, so the JW who was among them simply didn't raise her hand or "repeat after me". With a group that large there is no way to enforce who is following along.

And regarding any sort of written pledge, there is the possibility to opt out for religious reasons. JWs are not the only group to do so.

A very close friend told me that during the swearing in process here in Miami, that it was stated that any Seventh Day Adventest, Jehovahs Witness or other religion that found the swearing in process against their religion, to only repeat the parts that were not against their beliefs.

Sure, JWs are able to become citizens. There was an old Wt. that provided the justification. I know numerous JWs who became citizens.

that aside, we had a gentleman locally become a citizen after immigrating from iran. Same as everyone elses comments above. No jw issue with it...
