Leonard Cohen - a tribute

  I have gotten hooked on podcasts, one of which is Fresh Air, a PBS podcast. This past week the re-aired an interview with the late Leonard Cohen. Here is a link to the PBS site that includes the interview:

  Since listening to the interview, I have spent quality time listening to his songs. What is expressed is deep, dark, and extremely poetic. As I grow older, I continue to increase in my appreciation of the written word.

  Leonard Cohen -- I heard his tape playing decade ago at a Starbucks and bought the CD. It was the one called, "The Future," and has it's share of obscene lyrics. It's unlike any other music I'd ever listened to and is great background music to paint to - everyone in the class really liked it.

  I'd read yrs. ago he was known for his song writing and started singing/recording later in life. His manager had embezzled his fortune so he was recording and on tour doing concerts trying to make money. It was a sad story.

  I read his history and, yes he had a lot to be bitter about. But the interview he did prior to his death had none of the bitterness that might be expected.

  FYI, PBS is not NPR. Fresh Air is an NPR show that they also release in podcast format.

  NY44M - That's good he wasn't bitter. Try to listen to "The Future" when possible. I think you'll like.

  My big son was obsessed with The Future when he was 4, he used to carry around a walkman and play it all the time. Funny. But yes a good album.
