What is Stafford's official standing in the Org? I mean, he ain't Bethel, so nothing he writes can be considered authoritative. So what attitude does Bethel have towards him and his writings? They wouldn't encourage R&F to read his books, as this would take attention (and money) away from the FDS; so why do they tolerate him being in competition to him? And if he's so damned intelligent and loyal, why don't they simply assimilate him into the Bethel Brethren?

They are also making some damn good money for their books. Check out the prices.

Several months ago one of the books were haulted in publication. It was supposed to do with defending the NWT. I think it was Furuli who was writing the book.

    Stephanus,

I heard that Stafford actually works for the WT. I do not have anything to confirm this with and I am waiting to get the info. The person that told me this was a JW for over 50 years and has some ties with some at the WT headquarters. I would wait to see before spreading it around as fact. Stafford and Penton go at it once in a while on Channel-C. The forum is basically dead because the administrator basically wants those claiming to be of a christian background. You have to pass his screen test. What I have read of Staffords works are nothing more than watered down arguments and reinterpreting WT dogma to try to confuse issues and facts. He makes some good points but that is about it. To try to defend an organization like the WT shows his character.

    YA RIGHT!!!

Not if what I see on a couple of mailing lists is an indication ..... He is on a B-Greek list and he dares to contradict scholars who have been translators for 30-40 years and teach in Universities etc!!!!!

    YA RIGHT![8>][8>][8>][8>]

I had dealings with Greg last year when I bought his book and started asking him questions over e mail. He was fine at first but when I started asking more questions because his reasoning did not make sense, he said that he spent enough time on me that could have ben used for "spiritual" matters and if I e mailed him again he would delete the mail on sight!

    Hi Uncle Onion-

Stafford also got himself in hot water on H20 when he was dialoguing with AlanF. After one of their discussions, Stafford tried to login as a different user and pretended to be an objective bystander. Using what he thought was an alterego, he commended himself for his great debating technique and pronounced himself the winner of the debates with AlanF. Unknown to him was that there was a way on the old H20 board to tell if someone was using another identity when posting. When Greg Stafford was confronted with his dishonesty, instead of apologizing he claimed he was being persecuted and falsely accused. (Does this sound familiar?)
