I was wondering for people that have left their native land do you get homesick from time to time? I left England 22 years ago and go through periods of terrible homesickness. Then it passes. It always comes back. If i could make the kind of living that i do here i would go back in a New York minute.

It's a puzzle i know it will pass it always does i've never quite understood it. I don't have strong family ties so that is not the reason. I yearn to go back to my roots, at the same time i want to stay here.I would love to hear other folks experiences.Visit Smiley Central!

The only place I ever get homesick for is the Virgin Islands, where I lived for 13 years.

I am currently back in the city where I was raised after a 25 year absence. I feel like the proverbial dog who has returned to his own vomit.

I was born in Canada and I love it there. I bounced back and forth growing up between the States and Canada. I had never lived in any house for more then a year so I had a hard time with roots and where home really is.

I have been in this house in Kentucky for 17 years now so I guess it is home. What I do find is I get homesick for a place in time, not a physical place. A time that was good to me and comforting. I know I need it when I get out the ooooooooold John Denver & Simon & Garfunkle records (yes, I did said records).

Yup, Chachasmum, ya little sweetie patootie....when I moved to California in 1988 from Texas (home)....it was like being dropped out of a spaceship onto an alien planet....I couldn't even understand what people were saying at first, cause they talked so fast....and in 1994, after df'd, when I began to see the Maalox commercials, featuring Cajun food, music, singin' and dancin' , I got SOOOOO homesick for SE Texas (25 mi. from La. state line)....just HAD TO come home....

    Hugs,

I'm going to take a trip over there next year maybe that's what i need to get it out of my system. I'll be okay for awhile then it will start up again. I had a very thick north east lancashire accent when i first moved here nobody could understand a word i said. I remember it being very frustrating. Ah well !!!!!!!!!
