Reading thru this Rutherford book, “Religion”, it occurred to me how often the judge talks about the sins of other organizations but the crimes he self righteously accuses those other organizations of are actually the crimes his own organization is most guilty of. It must be some kind of subconscious ‘transferral’ thing common to all Totalitarians.
Just consider the message conveyed by substituting the term “the organization’ in place of the word “Christendom’ in these quotes. The chapter heading is “Famine in Christendom”:
“The land of the organization, speaking by its religious leaders, claims to be Gods vine, that is, the visible expression of His kingdom on earth….The claim is entirely false and hypocritical to the last degree, but God permits them to go to the full limit…The truth declares that the organization has no cause for joy but is empty and void, having no part in the kingdom of God... Christ Jesus with his Apostles set up the Christian organization… soon thereafter ambitious men associated them selves with the organization, and those selfish and ambitious men soon substituted ‘religious practises’ for the true service of God’…
Of course, many here no longer believe in God or Jesus, so perhaps if we made some further substitutions into the passages it might more accurately convey the activities and feeling of many here. Substituted words in Italics:
… “Now Simon sends forth his faithful posters who have been gathered to the temple of JW com, and these faithful posters are commanded to deliver Farkels message, and the truth declared by them declares the organization to be a false ‘fig tree’ …Simon hath made it clean bare! This shows, together with the undisputed facts, that the kingdom has been taken away from the organization and given to a nation bearing forth fruits of apostacy….Hearing that alarm at the mouth of Simon and Alan f , repeated by Simons faithful posters on the net makes the Governing Body exceedingly mad, and they froth at the mouth and threaten all manner of litigation against Simons apostates”.
Almost reads like the real thing doesn’t it.
