So what was all THAT about?

    Very strange thing happened yesterday.

My wife went to a meeting at the hall - on a Saturday evening!

Apparently the Leicester Forest East had a special visit from a bigwig from London Bethel.

The main talk was about Jesus - his office and ministry. Why was a special visit necessary? Was it only our congregation that had the visit? Has anyone else had this talk?

It made me wonder if apostate talk about how the JWs neglect Jesus was spurring this on?

There was also some shite about phenominal growth in third world countries.

We had a "special talk" like that here in Minnesota too a few years back. It was outside the "special assembly day" arrangement, where you usually hear speakers from the Bethel (house of false worship) headquarters.

In our case, someone knew the speaker personally and arranged for him to give a "special talk" as part of a small vacation visit to our area.

It seemed designed to create artificial excitement locally, but was not part of any organization-wide activity.

I suspect the case of your wifey's congregation, someone had an inside connection with the man in London who came to give this extra talk.

Isn't a special visit when some traveling overseer or bethalite is on vacation and leeching off the brothers so he doesn't have to pay for a motel room? Well his payment is some BS talk in front of the hall.

I think you may be right about this. As I understand it, recent Watchtowers have emphasized Christ more. Undoubtedly, it is a reaction to the criticism that the Watchtower Society relegates Christ to a lesser position in its literature and meetings. It may be a feeble attempt to stop this type of criticism from "apostates" as well as other religious groups.

One always has to "read between the lines" of the Watchtower literature to really get a sense of what is happening in the organization. The leaders of the Watchtower try to give the impression that they are impervious to this type of censure. But the subtle reactions are often apparent when these things are addressed in articles and meetings.

There seems to be a spate of "Special Weekend Visits" going on in the UK around now. My Sister in Law invited us to a Saturday evening gig meeting at her hall, (shame we could not make it) I guess it is after the assembly season and before the winter.
