My JW girlfriend called me this morning to tell me she watched "The Guardian" last night and there was a hospital scene where the main character brought the patient a magazine. She opened it and said "Oh, you brought me a Watchtower". Then they talked about how she was going to die and would see her baby soon, which my friend took for their alluding to the resurrection.

I didn't see it so wondered if anyone here did? Probably only aired in US and Canada.

Mainly I want to know WHY are they doing this???????????

    Mulan,

I saw the show last night, here's what happened. The plot had to do with a possible coal mine incident and the attorney, Nick who was working for the mine owner went to this town of about 23 households to get releases signed, (to protect the mine owner, of course). This young girl answers the door to see a man in a suit and she asked him if he was giving away Watchtowers. He responded no that he was an attorney. She went on to question him again and then explained that the only people they see that dressed up in their town were JW's giving away Watchtowers. There was a touching innocence to this young girl. And the lawyer was clearly uncomfortable with being mistaken for a JW.

The scene had a feel of reality to it, one of those things that could happen. As a young girl I lived for a year in the Ozark Mountains. The Special Pioneer couple that studied with us had many stories of how you had to be careful when traveling those mountain backroads as many residents were moonshiners and were very suspicious about any dressed up strangers, one could easily be mistaken for a "revenuer" and get shot at.

In the hospital scene Nick did bring her a Watchtower. The young girl was dying of cancer and I felt as though Nick was simply trying to do something for this young girl that would mean something special to her.

That sounds better. I think my friend must have missed the first part of the show.

"The Guardian" is one of few tv shows I like to watch - and Aussie hunk Simon Baker isn't too hard on the eyes either!

The show isn't screening at the moment over here, but I'll keep an eye out for that episode when the show returns.

I was in my room but I heard the JW part as a couple of roomies were watching it in the living room. As soon as she asked them if they were dubs my friends yelled for me to come watch. It wasn't what your friend said Mulan. She got that wrong. It was just about being mistaken at the door for a dub since they were wearing suits.

Weird Mulan, Craig told me about it and I said, "boy here it goes all the dubbies will be all in a titter over seeing them mentioned on TV, more exposure to Jehovah's name." I could just hear the comments made in car groups all over today as they are out in service......blablabla

This just shows how the only thing they're known for is being mag. dispensers.

I love the guardian, God he is a sexy man. Anyway, I felt like he brought her the magazine as a joke, sort of an icebreaker, because when she thought he was a JW at the door she didn't want to talk to him.

I didn't see the show but did he ask for a donation before she died ?
