Medical care

A few years ago my daughter, living in the Patterson complex, was operated on her left shoulder. The operation was done by a "renowned specialist" of this type of operation.

She was visiting about a year after the operation and at that time her left shoulder was about 2 inches lower than her right shoulder and part of her arm and left hand had little feeling. I just found out that she needs another operation. I have no way of finding out who did the operation. It certainly looks like a botched job.

Does anyone here know if the doctors performing surgery on people in my daughter's position, are JWs and would she have access to other non-JW doctors. It makes me ill to think that she is not getting the best of care.

    Hi Phil:

It is difficult to answer your question. When I served at Brooklyn everytime I asked questions about health insurance etc I got the run around. So, I asked my father to keep a health insurance policy going for me and he readily agreed.

When I was a Bethel I had a friend who was a fellow Bethelite that injured his knee on vacation in a skiing accident. They did have the surgery down by a non-JW doctor if I am not mistaken. However, the Bethelite was required to pay for the surgery himself.
