So you can see from multiple topics here (& elsewhere), based on GB update #4, JWs now have permission to toast.

There’s been a boatload of “XYZ is now allowed” over the past couple of years….beards, no ties in field service or at the KH, sister can wear pants at the KH & in field service…..

What do you think is next?

A lot of folks are speculating on birthday celebrations being allowed, and I agree that will eventually come, but I don’t think it is next. Too big of a jump.

    Heres my guess:

    Yoga, tai chi, etc.

For decades, as long as I’ve been alive (too many decades 🤨), yoga has been explicitly banned due to its “connections to spiritism”.

But the identical, precisely identical, arguments that were made to allow toasting can be applied to yoga and or other “eastern” practices.

So that’s my thought - the next “big” adjustment is the allowance of yoga. I wouldn’t expect it before 2026 though, they seem to be spacing these days”revelations” out so as not to apoplexate too many hardcore JWs.

What do you think? Agree, or will something else come first?

I also dont think birthdays will be next.

1: I think they will ease up on higher education.

    2: 1914 is finally dropped.

    It has been said..

That this toasting thing could be referenced to in the future. When something far more major is changed or dropped.

The Borg will reference this toasting fiasco as a change in the past.

Thanks for alerting me to this . So there is nothing against clinking glasses and toasting someone,. I would struggle to find many people that I would want to toast , but I suppose in family setting it could be .

Anyway,,to those oldies on here that I have talked with for years “Your very good health “

Birthdays could be on the block because it's a pretty easy one to reverse. The reasons for forbidding it are pretty thin (two birthday celebrations in the Bible involve the death of an innocent) and they have never forbidden the celebration of wedding anniversaries or baby showers, so the concept of celebrating such things is not alien to JWs.

It's a fine line to walk, though. How many changes can you make before the rank and file start to realize just how much control they have over your life? Giving back a few freedoms might make them aware of how many normal and reasonable things they still cannot do.

    Not Higher Education IMO.

The latest JW Broadcast (@ 50 minutes) brings the hammer down again on H.E. 😄

H.E. means JW's will be learning/working for themselves - not for the WTBTS business empire.
