My in-law is here, and she brought some latest magazines, kingdom ministry, and a couple of books. I saw a new theocratic school guidebook. Silly me, I never realized that they made a new one a couple of years ago.

As my wife and I looked at the stuff, we could not help but be amused. The stuff just reaked of being cultish. Same dribble, different cover.

My wife had it out with her mom for about 3 or 4 hours the other day of why we don't believe anymore. Her mom could not come up with any defenses. Hopefully it made her think some. But I doubt it will change any of her thoughts. My mother in law really is a sweet lady, but I just wish she would see the light. At least she does not judge us on our decision not to live as a witness.

Weird to see the magazines and all. We never have that stuff anywhere in this house.

maybe they'll keep the demons at bay

If you have a chance, could you post some interesting excerpts here so we can all make fun of it benefit from "new light?"

Gladly, Suzi. A KM is here also. Under the heading: Youths- Build a Fine Foundation for the Future, the question is asked, "How can you search for Jehovah?" Then it says " By carefully examining what you believe and proving to yourself that it really is the truth" ( Great advice! Except it goes on to ask if they can explain what the bible says about blood or prove that God's kingdom began ruling in the heavens in 1914. So, really, they are asking if the youths have memorized what they have been told the bible says about blood and when God's kingdom began ruling NOT if they have really examined what they believe. AARRGH!

It goes on to encourage pioneering, bethel and missionary service, going where the need is greater as great goals after one is enslaved baptized.

There is also "Branch Letter" on the front page that apparently was a feature in the 60's & 70's that has been brought back (space filler?) It claims that over 70,000 bible studies were started in the US in 2003 service year.( but I highly doubt that anywhere close to that actually went so far as to be dunked!) It says that congregations have been established in 37 languages in addition to English and that the printery at Walkill is being expanded to fill the growing literature needs. An addition is being made equivalent to 3.5 acres of floor space to house the new equipment. The 2 new printing presses arriving early next year will spit out 25 magazines per second. New bindery equipment will go in as well. " This will result in greater production with reduced personnel"
